Anatomy CG
This page contains some computer graphics I have created to demonstrate
particular concepts for the University of Melbourne BVSc course -
mostly in anatomy. In general, these should be considered as "in
progress", or "proof of concept" works, unless advised otherwise by a
qualified vet.
These movies were created entirely by myself, using the resources of
the Anatomy Section and the Equine
Centre in the Faculty of
Veterinary Science, and the Department
of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. Very helpful advice,
review and comments were
provided by Drs Chris Philip, Helen Davies and Simon Pearce. Continual
improvements (not to mention motivation!) are due to the feedback
provided by undergraduate vet students.
The modeling and animation in these movies was done using the Open
Source 3D suite, Blender: www.blender.org.
No commercial software was used. ("Use
the force, read the source!")
These movies are Copyright (C) Jonathan Merritt, 2004. They may be
shown
and distributed for academic or non-commercial use, provided that they
are distributed and shown in their entirety, and the credits are
displayed continuously with each movie. Please let me know if you
are using these movies for an academic purpose at an accredited
institution and I will maintain a list of such uses on this page.
Osteochondral Fractures of
the Equine Carpus

Click for the movie (MS MPEG4 codec, 2.9MB).

This movie shows common
locations of osteochondral fractures of the equine carpus.
Note that the dorsal, proximal edge of the third carpal bone is also a
common location for
these fractures, although it is not yet included in this movie.
